Rumple: “The more you justify what you’re doing, the more you push them away. Take it from me, you will always lose the ones you love the most.”

Operation Cobra geared up for another mission, and it was glorious. You know, until it was revealed that Henry did it to get Emma out of the house, and Emma stole Violet’s heart. Yeah, that took the joy out of it a little bit.
Still, this was a great way to see that Emma is still very much Emma, just with a little more darkness in her. She wants the same things for Henry that she did before she was the Dark One, but the darkness talks her into doing whatever’s necessary to get her way.
Rumple told Emma as much, but we are still rooting for Emma, so it’s hard to believe the words of a man we spent so long hating. Yes, Rumple did terrible things as the Dark One in some twisted way for his son, Neal. But Emma would never do that, right?
Wrong. We watched her rip out Violet’s heart in order to break Henry’s so that Emma could free Merlin. Then, she tried to make it right by arranging to save the day whenever Violet’s horse went missing in Storybrooke. Emma is making the same mistakes Rumple did when he was the dark one.
Emma even had Regina almost on her side before the whole Violet heart stealing revelation. Regina believed that Emma had a good reason for erasing everyone’s memories, or at least Regina thought that Emma believed she had a good reason.
It would have been amazing to see more of Regina and Emma as the Dark One in Storybrooke. They could have had a chat about anything, really. We caught a glimpse of this surprising sympathy from Regina, but just when we had it, it was ripped away from us.
Merlin surprisingly was freed rather quickly in Camelot. Go team! Sooo, where’s Merlin now? Is he a tree again? Hopefully Merlin will jazz up the Camelot storyline. His scenes with Emma could be highly entertaining.
Emma freeing Merlin was a very telling scene. Half her magic was light magic, and the other half was dark. She’s halfway to becoming the Dark One, and based on her dreamcatcher obsession and what she did to Violet, Emma’s probably more dark than light at that point. What do you think will be the final tipping point?
