Too often those lost to murder are forgotten in the shuffle of legal procedure, media attention on the accused, and the confusion of the justice system. So each year a special memorial is held to focus on the victims and their loved ones.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office is proud to sponsor “On Wings of Love,” a memorial to local victims of homicide. This year’s 18th Annual “On Wings of Love” will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST. The public is invited. The event is free.
The event will be held in the Library Atrium at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, Tennessee. For directions and information about the library, CLICK HERE.
The event will honor murder victims such as Angie Holmes and Michelle Mace. On April 23, 1997 both were kidnapped from a Clarksville Baskin-Robbins store on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard by a serial killer. Angie putting herself through college through ROTC and a full-time job as a new mom and newlywed seemed to be forgotten in the media attention given to her killer. Michelle and her family lost their identities in the legal procedures; they became known as “the victim of -” or “the victim’s family.” Michelle loved to write, and she was creative; she was funny and made people laugh. “On Wings of Love” will remember the beautiful, vibrant young women as who they were: much loved, admired, fun, and intelligent.
