Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and the official start of the Hamptons season on Long Island’s East End. Hundreds of New Yorker’s leave the city for private estates, lobster rolls, and the beach. Of course, there are also the parties. On Saturday, May 23, 2015 guests made their way to Hamptons Magazine’s grand soiree celebrating their Memorial Day issue. The bash was held on a two acre private estate in Southampton, which is currently being listed by Bespoke Real Estate. The issue features Gwyneth Paltrow and her fitness guru best friend Tracy Anderson on the cover. Attendees enjoyed Grey Goose specialty cocktails and Maison Belle Claire rose. A dessert spread featured gourmet Twinkies and there were also a wide array of delicious hors d’oeuvres. Guests in attendance who joined publisher Debra Halpert and Editor-in-Chief Samantha Yanks included Ali Wentworth, Beth Stern, and Kim Raver.
After the Hamptons Magazine party, many influencers traveled to another Southampton private estate for the Social Life Magazine May 2015 issue launch party. Publisher Justin Mitchell’s magazine features Vanessa Hudgens on the cover. Vanessa was not in attendance, but that didn’t stop guests from enjoying plenty of rose and appetizers at the party presented by Nest Seekers, JetSmarter and Punzone. Nearby the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation hosted a Wine Tasting Benefit at the Southampton Center. On Sunday, May 24 Dujour Magazine hosted its Memorial Day kick off party at Harlow East in Sag Harbor. The wine was flowing, this time from the Hamptons own Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and guests enjoyed food from the restaurant like fish and fries, quinoa, kale salad, and salmon. Special thanks to Ford, which helped make this weekend getaway complete with a ruby red Ford hybrid C-Max Energi loaner. The car is sportier than your average hybrid but still gets great mileage. Using less than a tank of gas, the group drove from the city, in and around the Hamptons, to Montauk, and back to the city. It also has a great sound system, which was perfect for this weekend trip.
Tracy talked about about her new East Hampton fitness studio.
atombash.com: So tell us about the cover, you look great, how did it come about?
Tracy: They asked!
Examiner: And you and Gwyneth Paltrow have been friends for a long time?
Tracy: We have been friends for a decade and partners for almost a decade.
Examiner: And how did the East Hampton studio happen and what are your plans for this summer?
Tracy: So our new partner and CEO Maria Baum is a Sag Harbor resident, as well as am I … well first off the summers in the Watermill location are very packed every year and we wanted to create more access. It’s very hard for people from Montauk to drive all the way so she found this incredible spot and it was one of the first things she wanted to do this summer – to make sure I had the opportunity to showcase some of my new work.
DuJour founder Jason Binn shared his summer plan.
Examiner: So what are your plans for the summer in the Hamptons?
Jason: It’s going to be great. This is my 25th time coming out here and doing this and it’s kind of funny because we’re doing it this year with my former semi roommate, Puffy when I started in the Hamptons, and they are sponsoring it, Sean Jean with 3 AM. But I’m at the stage of my life where I’m not going to be out till 3 a.m., so it’s kind of an oxymoron and has come full circle.
