It has been a busy week here in Atlanta making it time to recap all that the gluten-free shopping and dining scene has to offer. This week’s contenders include, restaurant and bakery news and events, restaurants and bakeries with gluten-free options, store openings and product news.
2B Whole European Gluten Free Bakery is now selling three new gluten-free products in their brand new grab ‘n go fridge – pizza dough, Paleo pizza dough and three flavors of Paleo cookie dough (almond butter, chocolate almond butter, and fig) are ready to be baked and enjoyed fresh from the oven.
The inaugural Avalon Restaurant Week starts Saturday, October 24 and runs through Sunday, November 1. Eleven of Avalon’s full-service restaurants will offer $15, $25 and/or $35 prix fixe brunch, lunch and/or dinner menus. Participating restaurants include Antico, Caffé Antico, Bantam + Biddy, Bocado, Colletta, CRU Food & Wine Bar, Kona Grill, LottaFrutta, Marlow’s Tavern, Oak Steakhouse and Ted’s Montana Grill. Avalon is a great place to grab a gluten-free meal, so take advantage of the low prices and special menus.
Bantam + Biddy at Avalon turns one on October 30 and they’re celebrating with special offers over the next week. On Friday, the restaurant will feature $8 steak and baked potato plates from 5 p.m. until close on Vegas steak night.
The Ansley Mall Bantam + Biddy is celebrating its third anniversary with an outdoor fall festival on Sunday, October 25 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The team will steam up their signature tamales to sell along with warm spicy cider. Hodges Honey & Bees, The Cook’s Warehouse and Highland Outfitters will also be on hand with their wares.
Farm To Ladle in Ponce City Market offers an array of gluten-free salads and sandwiches all market on the menu to make ordering quick and easy. No bread for sandwiches, but maybe that will change over time.
NoGii bars and protein powder can now be found at: CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens.
Rach Makes Cakes will open its first brick-and-mortar shop in the Ponce Springs Lofts, across from Ponce City Market, later this year. Gluten-free red velvet cake/cupcakes/cake pops will be offered and special orders accepted. All sweets are made in a shared environment with wheat.
Souper Jenny’s Buckhead location is moving to the Atlanta History Center in 2016. Set to open on April 2, 2016, the new location will offer soups, salads and sandwiches and will add dinner to go, juices, gluten-free desserts and a full coffee bar. The Souper Jenny in Buckhead will close March 2016. At double the seating capacity, the new location in the Atlanta History Center is bound to be a popular spot.
Tuesday, October 27 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Watershed will be celebrating the latest release from The Prisoner Wine Company with a jail themed party benefiting The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Guests will be treated to lite bites and high end wines from the Prisoner Wines collection. Raffle prizes include 1.5 liter, magnums, and a case of exclusive bottles of Prisoner Wines. Tickets are $20 at the door with $5 going toward the foundation.
