Time to recap all that the gluten-free restaurant, shopping, and dining scene has to offer. This week’s contenders include, restaurant and Georgia made product happenings, new restaurants with gluten-free options, and the addition of gluten-free products to restaurant menus:
Cibo e Beve is entering its gluten-free meatball into The Atlanta’s Meatball Festival on Sunday, August 30 from 1-5 p.m. in Sandy Springs at the Belle Isle Square parking area next door to Cibo e Beve. Chef Linda Harrell, executive chef at Cibo e Beve, is serving as the event’s chef host and is preparing a chicken meatball using freshly ground Springer Mountain Farms chicken, almond and potato flour, and other tasty ingredients for its entry. This Examiner got to sample this hearty, moist, tender, and loaded with flavor meatball prior to the competition. The top three winners from Sunday’s festival will advance to a head-to-head Meat Brawl Throwdown at Taste of Atlanta.
Christophe’s To Go has updated its menu to include: shrimp pad thai, pecan and cranberry crusted salmon with asparagus over wild rice, and steak and broccoli stir fry. Stop by and pick up a gourmet dinner or two prepared by a classically trained French chef and let Chef Christophe cook dinner.
Simply Chopped® has merged with No Gluten, Inc.! to expand resources and distribution outlets with a goal of getting the Simply Chopped® snack line into a greater number of regional venues throughout the US. The Simply Chopped® snack line is made locally in Georgia with clean, fresh, and delicious ingredients that are free of dairy, soy, wheat, rice, cane sugar, artificial colors/flavors, and unnecessary fillers.
Stacey Eames plans to open a new bakery in Virginia Highlands where paleo, raw, gluten-free products are being planned for the menu. These items will be available for breakfast. lunch, and as tasty dessert options too. There will be smoothies, juices, and elixirs, made with alternative ingredients that are good and healthy for the body.
Table & Main, Osteria Mattone and Vin25 are hosting a Block Party Sunday, August 23, from 12 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Stop by to enjoy local beer, food and drink specials from each restaurant location and live music, patio games, and more.
We Suki Suki: A global grub collective expects to open either this Friday, Aug. 14, or Monday, Aug. 17 in the former Urban Cannibals space in East Atlanta Village. This food hall will include seven vendors serving global eats including gluten-free options.
