If you know a firefighter who has gone beyond the call of duty to make your community safer, nominate that firefighter for a Liberty Mutual Firemark Award. There are two types of National Firemark Awards that Liberty Mutual presents to firefighters across the country each year:
- The Firemark Award for Heroism Award is given to a firefighter who demonstrates exceptional heroism.
- The Firemark Award for Community Service Award is given to a firefighter who demonstrates a commitment to serving his or her community.
Nominations for the Liberty Mutual Firemark Award are open from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015. To nominate a Brockport firefighter for a Firemark Award, log on to the Liberty Mutual website, and follow the on-screen nomination instructions to fill out the online form.
After the nominations will be reviewed by a panel of experts that includes members of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Fire Protection Association. Eight finalists will be chosen: four nominees for the Firemark Award for Heroism and four nominees for the Firemark Award for Community Service.
The eight finalists will be featured in original videos that retell the stories of why they were nominated. The videos will be posted on the Liberty Mutual Facebook page and the public will be asked to vote for the two winners. The two winning firefighters will receive a $10,000 donation to their fire department from Liberty Mutual, and they will also receive a free trip for four to New York City.
The Liberty Mutual Firemark Awards are open only to nominees who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, and who are eighteen (18) years of age or older, and who are currently employed as a volunteer or career firefighter.
