Nestled in the lovely Passage des Panoramas in the 2nd, lies a gluten free haven for all you abstainers. While it is possible to eat gluten free in Paris, Noglu, is a 100% GF restaurant. No cross contamination woes here.
Noglu does modern French with, you guessed it, no gluten. In addition, their menu also offers several dairy free dishes; a sometimes hard find in Paris. All this complete with a beautiful wine selection.
For a more formal, sit-down dinner, make a reservation at the small and incredibly charming, bi-level bistro. Or, head to the take-away shop/cafe right across the street for things like sandwiches to-go, coffee, fresh juices, and pastries. Many of the dishes they serve are inherently gluten free, i.e. fish or meat with vegetables or a GF grain, but this will be the only restaurant in Paris where you can eat the delicious bread before the meal!
I went for lunch and had the pizza, a cod dish, and a scallop dish. The cod and scallop dishes were outstanding, on par with any of the other seafood dishes I had while eating in Paris. The pizza was really good. Not the best GF pizza I’ve ever had, but still damn good. After our meal, we swung across the street and picked up some GF madeleines which were the best I’ve had. I only wish I had not eaten so much because their pastries were giving me googly eyes. Alas, their attempt at invading my belly was thwarted. They looked absolutely perfect and if the rest of my meal is any indication, they were delicious.
Noglu is a must for the gluten free. Go on your first day so you can revisit at least one more time. You will thank me later.
