Just what will a Nicki Minaj sitcom look like and why would anyone want to watch it? It sounds like this Nicki Minaj venture, which already has a commitment from ABC Family, will be all about her life growing up in Queens.
According to Fox News on September 30, the folks who are bringing you Minaj’s story think people will make this sitcom one of their TV viewing destinations. Not just because she’s one of the biggest stars to ever hit the planet, but because her story is not only “amazingly inspiring,” but “hilarious” too.
ABC Family’s EVP Programming and Development Karey Burke said that even though Niki is an international superstar, not too many people know her story. This sitcom will follow Ninja as she embarks on the road to fame. Burke said the folks at ABC “can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Kate Angelo (Sex Tape), is writing the untitled series where it will focus on Minaj growing up in the Queens during the 1990s with her “vibrant immigrant family and the personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom,” according to Deadline.
This is a woman who was born Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the U.S. as a tot. It seems as if she went for the gusto of the American dream starting at a very early age. Minaj is all set to go with this “scripted sitcom” in which she will executive produce and appear in.
Folks know Minaj for her singing, but she started out wanting to be an actress. She even attending Manhattan’s prestigious LaGuardia High School to originally pursue an acting career. While Minaj dabbled in a few venues with acting, it was her music career that put her where she is today, on top and not moving from that space!
