Nick Gordon is innocent of wrongdoing in the Bobbi Kristina case. Preliminary autopsy results may have cleared Nick’s name, since no evidence of foul play has been found by the Fulton County Medical Examiner thus far, according to a report from TMZ.com on July 27. This means that despite the eagerness of both sides of Bobbi Kristina’s family to blame Nick for her condition, it now appears that the young man may have been falsely accused.
The initial portion of the autopsy was completed on Monday, but additional tests are still being performed. Although it was rumored that Bobbi Kristina had teeth knocked out, medical examiners found no significant injuries, according to CBS News on July 28. The Medical Examiner’s office clearly stated beforehand that interpretation of autopsy findings and other information would be challenging because of the nearly 6-month time lapse between Bobbi Kristina’s admission to the hospital and the time of her death. A number of media outlets have pointed out that bruises would have faded by now, but evidence of one or more missing teeth would still be visible, even now, if the “missing tooth” rumors were true.
As for the bruises, police initially questioned suspicious bruising reportedly found around Bobbi Kristina’s mouth. However, it seems that inquiries along those lines ended when police learned that Bobbi Kristina was involved in a serious car accident 3 days before her near-drowning. The impact of the accident caused the airbag in her car to be deployed, and sent her passenger and the driver of the other car to the hospital. Bobbi Kristina could have sustained undocumented injuries, since she refused medical attention at the scene. Apparently the police investigation took this into account. The critically injured driver underwent several surgeries and recently filed a $700,000 against Bobbi Kristina’s estate.
Additional evidence has also emerged that may help clear Nick Gordon’s name. It has been reported that Bobbi Kristina had a history of falling asleep in the bathtub after partying and taking drugs. According to Hollywood Life on July 28, one such incident occurred the night before Whitney Houston died. It was duly noted and documented by law enforcement officials who reported that Bobbi Kristina ran a bath in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, fell asleep in the tub and woke up to find her room flooded with water. She was rushed to the hospital for acute alcohol poisoning the next day, even though at the time Whitney Houston’s reps attempted to cover up the incident by claiming that Bobbi Kristina was hospitalized for anxiety, exhaustion and stress. As the investigation continues regarding the circumstances surrounding Bobbi Kristina’s death, this information could also be useful in getting Nick Gordon off the hook.
As the investigation continues into the underlying cause of Bobbi Kristina’s death, additional lab tests will be conducted. Medical records have been subpoenaed from the three institutions where Bobbi Kristina was a patient, in hopes of shedding more light on her case. The Fulton County Medical Examiner states that they have no plans to complete the death certificate or determine a cause and manner of death until all test results are completed and all investigative, medical, and other documentary records are received and thoroughly reviewed. The public has been informed that it could be several weeks before this process is complete.
