Ring in the new year with some fun decorations using recycled items and begin a continued or new resolution of living greener. Using what you would otherwise just throw away makes for fun crafting and is also often cheap. Scrounging around the house and using leftover craft supplies to use with the recycled items is also a great end of year clean out project. It also makes for good last minute crafting because you can find the items around the house or perhaps simply in your recycling container. Lastly, even if the stuff still does end up in the trash (or actual recycling when appropriate) at least it got reused a little instead of going out to buy new craft items to make the entire craft.
Cardboard Tube Candy Surprise – This is a good way to use the last strips of holiday wrapping paper and the wrapping paper tube (cut into smaller pieces).
CD Coasters – Turn old CDs, Computer games, DVDs, or any type of disc that you might have around that you no longer need or is too scratched to work properly. Not recycling, but if you want you can just get blank ones at an office supply store.
Faux Firecrackers – This craft uses a cardboard toilet paper roll. You can also use a cardboard paper towel roll. You might also have some wrapping paper rolls that are empty from wrapping holiday gifts. Instead of sequins you can go further with recycling by using scraps of wrapping paper and ribbon.
Soda Can Vintage Noisemaker – This is a fun vintage style craft reusing a soda can to become a festive noisemaker.
Water Bottle Noisemaker – This is an easy craft to turn an empty water bottle into a festive noisemaker. Also, a good way to use leftover tissue paper that you might have gotten with presents. You can also decorate it with scrap pieces of wrapping paper instead of tissue paper.
