Sea Cuisine has a new line of frozen fish; one of the standouts is the Tortilla-Crusted Tilapia fillets. It cooks in less than 30 minutes-and there’s no thawing required! A 5-ounce serving is only 250 calories, with 25 grams of protein and just 10 grams of fat.
Old El Paso Chile & Roasted Garlic Mexican Cooking Sauce can be poured over sauteed beef or chicken strips, onions and peppers and rolled into a tortilla or just put on some bread for one fantastic sandwich. The sauce can also be poured over pork chops, burritos, enchiladas-and even leftover turkey for an unexpected spicy kick.
When it comes to saving time, you can’t beat Campbell’s Apple Bourbon BBQ Slow Cooker Sauce-it actually takes just seconds; simply pour this over some pork shoulder or ribs and turn up the cooker (or crockpot). You’ll soon have a fully barbecued treat that can be served on buns or added to a couple of veggie side dishes for a complete dinner. And the sweet and tangy sauce is only 60 calories.
Quick and Easy Calorie Cutting
Here are a few simple ways to cut down on calories without compromising taste or your overall heath:
If you can’t totally give up the potato chips, try to reduce the amount you eat. A better-and healthier-option is popcorn, without the butter. Air-popped or plain popcorn has just the one-fourth the amount of potato chips. And popcorn is also a whole grain (fiber, minerals and vitamins will be added to your diet while reducing calories at the same time).
Making whole grain pasta? Cook just half the amount that you normally would; then add some fresh or frozen vegetables to it. And if you skip the parmesan cheese, that’s even less calories you’re consuming.
Many people are mayonnaise lovers, but just one tablespoon can be 57 calories; mustard packs as much flavor with far fewer calories.
Eat fresh fruit whenever possible. It’s fiber-rich, antioxidant-rich and a great low-calorie option. And add some fruit to your morning oatmeal or cereal.
No soft drinks. If you must have one, try to drink them sparingly; not only are they loaded with calories, they’ll also offset your body’s blood sugar, increasing appetite as a result. Go for water.
