New Belgium Brewing Company (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream (Waterbury, Vermont) announced this week that they have released Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale and Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream as a collaborative partnership to benefit Protect Our Winters.
For the beer portion of this special collaboration, New Belgium has created Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale. This medium bodied Brown Ale has aromatic and flavor notes reminiscent of rich, chocolate brownie batter, roast, malted milk balls, cocoa, vanilla, salted caramel, dried dark fruits, and almonds. With a 6.3% ABV and a velvety, creamy mouthfeel, Salted Caramel Brownie Ale is the perfect brew to enjoy on a cool fall or winter’s evening as an indulgent treat.
If you really want to step up the decadence level, you can pair a tall pour of Salted Caramel Brownie Ale with Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream. This ice cream “concoction consists of New Belgium Brown Ale Ice Cream with Salted Caramel Swirls and Fudge Brownies.” Both the beer and ice cream are meant to perfectly complement the other, and this could lead to some pretty awesome results when combined for the ultimate ice cream float.
This collaborative effort has a much deeper intent that just really tasty craft beer and ice cream. New Belgium and Ben & Jerry’s went one step further to create a partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW), “an organization founded by pro-snowboarder Jeremy Jones, to bridge the gap between the winter sports community and the necessary action to address climate change.” A portion of the proceeds from the sales of both Salted Caramel Brownie Ale and Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream will go to benefit Protect Our Winters in their mission.
“We are incredibly excited to be working with a like-minded business, creating top-notch flavor sensations and leveraging our collective efforts to bring awareness to B Corps and climate issues,” said Bryan Simpson, New Belgium’s PR Director. “Beer and ice cream are a beautiful pair, and getting to turn folks onto the work of POW makes this collaboration that much more meaningful.”
New Belgium’s Salted Caramel Brownie Ale is available as a limited release offering in six packs of 12 oz. bottles at craft beer friendly establishments in Alabama and throughout the brewery’s distribution network. Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream is featured now at “Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops as well as in pints across the country as a Limited Batch flavor (MSRP $4.89).” Both the beer and ice cream are available now and will be hanging out through the holiday season while supplies last. This is a pretty cool collaboration between two amazingly eco–conscious businesses, so make sure to pick up both of these offerings to support this great cause. It’s the perfect way to justify the indulgence of enjoying two pints in one evening. Prost!
