Just now arriving in dealerships, the all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima 4-Door Sports Car (4DSC), is already a winner on the track. In fact, they are already twice a winner, being recognized by the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship through their selection as the official Safety Car for two key events.
A specially wrapped and equipped 2016 Maxima will serve as the official Safety Car for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge during the Oak Tree Grand Prix weekend to be held August 21-23 at Virginia International Raceway located near Danville, Virginia. Later this year, the 2016 Maxima will participate in the same role at the Lone Star Le Mans race to be held at the Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 track in Austin, Texas Sept. 17-19.
Nissan is an official partner of IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) which is the sanctioning body for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. Nissan is not only a partner, but has fielded multiple car and power plant combinations in recent seasons including Nissan 370Z NISMO’s being run by Doran Racing.
Doran Enterprises, based in Lebanon, Ohio will be running their Nissan 370Z NISMO team at both the Oak Tree Grand Prix event this weekend and later at the Lone Star Le Mans race. Doran Racing is widely regarded as one of the best operations ever in endurance sports car racing. The Doran Racing 370Z NISMO team is motivated and looking forward to the Continental Tire SporsCar Challenge following their best finishes this year just two weeks ago when they placed second and fourth. So much so, that Doran Racing says they are looking for an outright victory in Saturday’s 2.5-hour race at Virginia International Raceway.
The new 2016 Maxima for the rest of us is looking like a winner too. Created by driving enthusiasts for driving enthusiasts, the new Maxima delivers a new leaner and meaner version of their iconic premier 4-Door Sports Car (4DSC). All five trim-levels are seriously loaded up for performance starting with a completely revised 300 horsepower 3.5L VQ-Series V6 engine with a new performance tuned Xtronic transmission with manual shift mode, D-Step logic and sport tuning.
To add to the drive experience, the new Maxima is equipped with a Drive Mode Selector that allows the driver to choose a Sport mode to increase throttle response with the Xtronic delivering more aggressive shifting based on the driving situation.
If you choose the Maxima SR model, look for the unique Dynamic-control Module (IDM) system that enhances the chassis management of the Active Ride Control (ARC) that uses targeted brake applications – as the Maxima encounters bumps or rolling pavement on the road – to level the ride for both comfort and performance.
The new 2016 Nissan Maxima is not quite the performance car used by the Doran Racing 370Z NISMO team, but it does a pretty job running hard and fast, when it needs to. Good enough to have been selected as the Safety Car for two key events that Doran Racing is looking to win.
