Nancy Pelosi’s official statement emphatically insists that “Planned Parenthood provides a lifeline to millions of women every year” before insisting that many of these women “often cannot afford cancer screenings or women care anywhere else.” According to Ms. Pelosi, one of the women health care services that Planned Parenthood provides are mammograms. That’s been a Democrat chanting point for years. What it isn’t is the truth.
According to Bre Payton’s article for the Federalist, “hundreds of women called their local Planned Parenthood clinics Monday to schedule a mammogram, but none were able to successfully secure an appointment.” That’s because “there are 8,735 licensed mammography facilities in the United States, and Planned Parenthood operates none of them.”
The Democrats’ effort to continue funding Planned Parenthood is based on misinformation. That misinformation can be refuted using day that’s available through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Democrats’ attempt to keep funding Planned Parenthood says everything about their (lack of) political character.
Why do they insist that Planned Parenthood be funded but oppose the funding of public health clinics that don’t provide abortions? It’s obvious that the Democrats’ highest priority is supporting Planned Parenthood, even if that means overlooking the gruesome things their abortionists do.
One question that Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton haven’t been asked is why the money that’s currently going to Planned Parenthood shouldn’t go to funding women health clinics that would be required to provide cancer screenings, supply women with birth control but not provide abortions. Initially, Hillary said that the things in the videos were repulsive, which they are. Less than a week later, Hillary was back to the Democratic norm of defending Planned Parenthood and accusing Planned Parenthood’s opponents of hating women.
It’s worth noting that the House bill that would’ve defunded Planned Parenthood would’ve funded public health clinics with the money saved by not funding Planned Parenthood. Women would’ve been taken care of whether Planned Parenthood was funded or defunded. That doesn’t matter to extremists like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi.
They worship at the altar of abortion on demand. It’s irrelevant to them that Planned Parenthood’s practices are better described as infanticide for profit than “women health services.” That’s a euphemism that’s used solely to make barbarism sound acceptable.
