MW Cleaners, which has been making a name for itself as a community-driven business that daily works to give back to each neighborhood within its reach, has just extended its reach of community giving by opening a new location in Katy. Joining its current locations at 2201 S Mason Rd. and 2711 Cinco Ranch Blvd., the new MW Cleaners at 2731 FM 1463 is the latest opportunity for company president Mike Nesbit to give back to the community. Customers coming to the new location – as well as any of the other 36 locations throughout the Houston area – can participate in the 2015 MW Cares Toy Drive for Angels, benefiting the Houston Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program by picking up “angel” ornaments with toy suggestions off the tree inside each location. The angels have the age-appropriate toy suggestions, based on the highest-selling toys this season. Once the customer has selected a suggested gift, they can bring the new, unwrapped toy to any of the MW Cleaners locations, and the team there will take care of the rest. The drive will last through November 28.
On December 3, the MW Cleaners team will host a special presentation morning, where they will drop off all the gifts at the Salvation Army. The team will cook breakfast as a thank you to all the volunteers, the Salvation Army, and the Harbor Light Choir, the Salvation Army’s renowned musical group that will also be providing holiday cheer for the event. Additionally, the company recently held its first ever MW Cares Coat & Blanket Drive. Partnering with nonprofit three organizations, the cleaners took up donations of coats and blankets all month.“We organized this drive because we want to use our resources to extend warmth to those in need,” said Nesbit. “We are appealing to the generous, caring residents of the Houston area to dig into their closets and bring to any of our area stores their donations for us to clean and deliver to these worthy organizations.
The business has a soft spot in its heart for Katy. Recently, staff hosted a wine-pouring booth at the Katy Sip ‘n’ Stroll, which benefited The Ballard House, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide temporary housing in a warm, safe environment for patients and their families who are hospitalized or receiving treatment for serious medical conditions. Since 2008, Ballard House through Cinco Charities has been providing housing to patients and their caregivers who travel to the Katy/Houston area for medical treatment. “The communities we serve are part of our family,” said Nesbit. “We would not be successful without them. Any time we can help and serve our communities in need and raise awareness or funds, we love to help. Service is a fabric of our DNA and what we love to do.” Nesbit encourages Katy residents to visit the new location and pick up an “angel” for the toy drive while they meet the staff. MW Cleaners has 37 stores in the Houston area and 13 locations in the Austin area and includes free pickup and delivery service.
