Mondays Dark at Vinyl inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was host to this month’s charity, Las Vegas Labrador Rescue, Monday, September 21, 2015. Each month entertainers give back to Las Vegas by putting on a show and auction. This is not some cheap show one feels like they were conned into going to. Host Mark Shunock (Canadian) of Rock of Ages, puts on a hell of a performance. His performance is a culmination of both comedy and stunning vocalist singing. He and the other performers really do give it their all. Mark Shunock said that Mondays Dark has raised $250 thousand this year, thus far for eleven different charities.
Dave Heck, President of Las Vegas Labrador Rescue, said, Luke, the yellow Labrador posing with attendees Monday night was found stranded along a highway in Utah. He said that the organization specializes in rescuing, rehabilitating, and homing Labradors. These Labradors typically get adopted in ten days or less. The Labradors are marketed on social media to get the word out that these dogs need homes. Victoria Bremner, Treasurer of Las Vegas Labrador Rescue, said all of the dogs are adoptable. She gets a lot of dogs from hunters who say their dogs don’t hunt good enough. Maybe hunters should plan to not get a dog for a job position, but more so as a companion first. Dogs are a lot like people, where if they feel love and companionship, they tend to give back out of shared love for mutually liked activities. The rehabilitation center opened four years ago. It is run by forty-eight volunteers. The organization needs 250 more volunteers to help with everything from rehabilitation, inspectors of clients’ homes for suitability, and foster homes to lay over for a few weeks before going to new homes. Victoria said this is the thing she is most passionate about. She said potential clients need a plan for kenneling and exercise, before homing a Labrador. Victoria restated, “it is all about the plan.”
The fantastic entertainment lineup started with Host Mark Shunock’s comedy and singing. This entertainment lineup roared the whole night with: Zipporah Peddle (Canadian vocalist and pianist), Mandi Seekings (Canadian vocalist minus the poutine), Lou Lou White (Canadian French singing vocalist), Brett Pruneau (Canadian vocalist), Missa Sines (Canadian vocalist), Adrian Zmed (Canadian actor and vocalist), Janien Valentine (Canadian vocalist), Becca Kotte (Canadian vocalist starring as Sherrie in Rock of Ages), Chadwick Johnson (Canadian vocalist), Gordie Brown (Canadian vocalist and impersonator), and Brihony Dawson (Canadian vocalist). Each Mondays Dark has a whole new line up each month. So, if one didn’t like this line up, then one can find a whole other cast of interesting characters next month.
For October, Mondays Dark will have Trey Parker and Matt Stone from Team America World Police, South Park, and The Book of Mormon (the musical). This is all benefiting Project 150 (disadvantaged high school children). Tickets to the October 19th show can be found through AXS Entertainment. Tickets will go on sale October 1st, 2015, for the charity at the end of the year with all 11 charities from throughout the year.
