Ah the choosing of the annual birthday party theme–an important childhood rite. And what do most toddler boys want for their birthday theme: dinosaurs, monster trucks, maybe Bob the Builder? Well, Grayson Dobra is not most toddler boys. He’s not fixated on toys or cartoons, Grayson’s obsessed with Morris Bart personal injury lawyer ads. So of course, mom threw her toddler a “Morris Bart personal injury lawyer” themed birthday party. People magazine reported July 31 that it was an affair to remember.
Who is Morris Bart, you ask. You mean you’ve never heard of this celebrity? You’re obviously not from southern Louisiana. Because this New Orleans attorney’s name is on TV more than Kardashian or Jenner. Morris Bart’s commercials play constantly. Bart’s “one call, that’s all” ads for a personal injury lawyer punctuate every show on certain channels.
And little Grayson grew up hearing those commercials at Grandma’s house. Among his first words were “Morris Bart” and “one call, that’s all!” The child was as crazy about Morris Bart as some kids are about their stuffed bears. He refers to the lawyer as “my Bart.” So, his mom L’erin Dobra figured, hey, it’s unorthodox by why not throw the baby a Morris Bart party?
Personal injury lawyer themed decorations being hard to come by, the toddler birthday party was DIY. They had Bart’s face emblazoned on a birthday cake. They made life-sized cut-outs and posters of Morris Bart. You would have thought Bart would come to the party, if just for good PR. But Bart doesn’t do party gigs. He did, however, send his biggest fan a T-shirt and signed picture. And little Grayson was delighted.
Kids are a fickle lot. You can’t predict who they’ll identify as a hero. Another boy, Dylan Johnson chose a Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman as his idol. Good parents don’t judge. They just hope the person is worthy of the child’s respect. And they celebrate his charming quirks. Because as the saying goes, “they grow so fast.”
