Julie Hodges is a mother of three with a great idea. This year, 18 children have passed away due to being locked in hot vehicles but annually the total is closer to 38. As she reminded the Working Dad, the temperatures inside a vehicle can quickly become deadly and unless the child is discovered shortly afterwards their chance of survival is slim.
A parent can’t always see the backseat, but they can always see the steering wheel. With that in mind, Julie started a IndieGoGo fundraiser to help raise funds for a steering wheel cover to remind caregivers about their backseat passengers and prevent infant heat stroke.
The steering wheel cover is a backseat passenger reminder that requires no assembly and is always in view and reminds parents and caregivers to exit the vehicle with their children with four simple phrases:
- Car Seat Occupied
- Remember Your Sunshine
- Don’t Part Without Your Heart
- Say Bye With Your Cutie Pie
Families can breathe easy because the cover has no odor. Included with the cover are four door knob hanger reminders. Learn more at Julie’s fundraising site here.
