Families looking for things to do with kids this Christmas season will find an experience like no other at the Miracle of Jesus program. This family-friendly event will not just tell the story of Jesus’ birth, but actually let visitors walk through a makeshift Bethlehem and interact as though they lived in that time period.
Visitors will receive a map of the city and proceed to visit the citizens and shops of Bethlehem, including the census taker, fisherman, wool trader, bakery, spice shop and stable. At each stop, costumed characters will share surprising facts about life in Bethlehem and visitors will collected scented stickers to mark their maps with the locations they’ve visited.
Families will enjoy hands on activities such as baking bread and learning about how Jesus fed five thousand people, creating frankincense and myrrh keepsakes and hearing about the gifts that were presented to the Christ child, and casting their fishing nets and learning to be fishers of men. In addition to the hands on activities, there will be an interactive drama that will allow visitors to participate in the story of Jesus’ birth.
Throughout the day, there will be crafts, stories, games, activities and more! The entire event will be a multi-sensory experience that will help visitors really understand what it was like in Bethlehem for Mary and Joseph. Through sight, sound, smell, touch and taste families will delight in activities that will leave a lasting impression and greater understanding of the Bible.
The Miracle of Jesus program is the best Christmas activity families will experience this holiday season. To register, visit First United Methodist Church online. This wonderful family-friendly Christmas event takes place on Saturday, December 5 from 2-5 p.m. in St. Charles.
