Massive yellow Minions have invaded the dome at the Pacific Theatres’ Cinerama in Hollywood. Kevin, Stuart and and Bob are set to star in their own spin-off film, titled “Minions” releasing across the country on July 10, 2015. The gigantic sidekicks will stay on top of the theater through July 16.
“It is quite an impressive sight to drive down Sunset and encounter enormous versions of Illumination’s Minions as they continue to become a part of our culture,” said Nick Carpou, president of distribution, Universal Pictures. “We cannot thank our friends at Pacific Theatres enough for working with us on this massive feat of engineering.”
The Minions range from 35 to 50 feet tall and the combined weight of the display is 2,500 pounds. The banana that the trio is trying to grasp weighs in at 50 pounds alone. The display took 2,000 hours to produce and required 4,166 yards of fabric.
The Minions came to light as the kooky sidekicks to evildoer turned good guy Gru, from the Despicable Me film series. In the new film the Minions find themselves without a master to follow and become depressed. Kevin, Stuart and Bob head out on a pilgrimage to find a new villain.
