Through the years there have obviously been tons of classic sitcoms, but most of those typically fall through the 70s and 80s. During the 90s one series stood out as something different and captured the fun of the past with That ‘70s Show. Now Mill Creek Entertainment is bringing the entire series to Blu-ray in one all new box set for the first time.
In case you never took the trip back in time, the series follows six friends and their families as they dealt with the trials and tribualtions of being a teenager in the 70s, smoking weed, relationships and everything in between. They series featured a then mostly unknown cast who have since gone on to become superstars including Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, and Danny Masterson. Like most series, the show went through some cast changes as the show went on, but thankfully the core cast didn’t change much through most of its run. The series took on the 70s to perfection taking on various issues and situations from the time all while keeping the typical sitcom formula intact. The chemistry the cast has is perfection and they were able to bounce dialogue around the room off of each other flawlessly making for some truly hilarious moments. Some of the best moments of the show were during their round table shots of smoking, but even more so when it was Eric interacting with his dad Red played to perfection by Kurtwood Smith. Like many sitcoms this show kept the laughs rolling, but also dealt with real life issues making the show more relatable to the audience. What is even more brilliant about this show is that while it is obviously more entertaining and funny to those that grew up during the time, they have written it to where anyone still can relate and enjoy the fun of it all. Easily one of the best episodes was the Star Wars one that sent Eric into a tailspin obsession with the iconic film and allowed them to reenact the film itself. It was this kind of simple brilliance that helped the series stand out on its own to become a classic of its own. There just aren’t enough series like this one anymore and thankfully there are plenty of episodes to revisit in this collection to make up for that.
This collection not only features all 200 episodes from its eight seasons, but a slew of special features including commentaries, behind the scenes featurettes and more of over 6 hours of bonus material both previously and all-new material. In addition this collection comes packaged together in a unique velvet flocked o-sleeve similar to the popular black light posters of the day.
Don’t miss out on this groovy collection of this hilarious series when That ‘70s Show: The Complete Series hits Blu-ray on November 3rd.
