Miley Cyrus has revealed in a new Marie Claire interview that she has been dealing with body issues. Cyrus claims that playing Disney’s “Hannah Montana” caused her to have the issues according to a Thursday, August 13 report from MSN. Miley reveals she began experiencing the body issues when she was 11-years-old and starring on the hit show because she was always being dressed up to “look like someone I wasn’t.”
“From the time I was 11, it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing. Meanwhile, I’m this fragile little girl playing a 16-year-old in a wig and a ton of makeup,” notes Cyrus, comparing the experience to TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras.” Cyrus believes the Disney show “probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ‘Who the f— am I?’”
“I’m probably never going to be the face of a traditional beauty company unless they want a weed-smoking, liberal-ass freak,” she said. “But my dream was never to sell lip gloss. My dream is to save the world.” One thing that is true, Miley Cyrus has been one to speak her mind, and do as she pleases publicly, even when the choices were considered less than desirable by many.
As previously reported, during the same interview Miley also called out Taylor Swift calling her a “bad example.” Miley has chosen sides in the Swift/Perry feud and Miley Cyrus is speaking about “good girl” Taylor Swift’s mean-girl treatment of Katy Perry. Once upon a time Taylor and Miley were pals, but no longer. Cyrus also spoke openly (in Miley fashion) during the Marie Claire interview that she just doesn’t get why things like violence are supported, but her proclivity toward nudity draws major backlash.”I don’t get the violence revenge thing,” the star says of Taylor Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video. “That’s supposed to be a good example? And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my t**ties out? I’m not sure how t**ties are worse than guns.”
Miley Cyrus has been awaiting some form of response from Taylor Swift over her catty remarks, but so far T-Swift has remained hush on the matter. Could it be that Taylor feels too grown up to respond to the snide comments that are constantly being thrown her way any longer, or perhaps she is just too busy working on her hit music? What do you think about Miley Cyrus’ confession on her body image issues?
