The 2015-16 bowling tournament season will get into full swing later this month, and such events as a Special Edition Prove It Challenge, a PBA South Regional and a Bobby Combs Century Doubles are on the agenda in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.
Sept. 20 Prove It Challenge at AMF Venice to feature match-play format
The next in a series of Prove It Scratch Challenge tournaments will feature a Special Edition format that will include a round-robin match-play finals.
Tournament director Chuck Souzer has scheduled the tournament for Sunday, Sept. 20, at AMF Venice Lanes, and entry fee will be $75 leading to a top prize of $720, based on 30 entries.
Starting lane assignments will be made during check-in and registration, which will begin at 9:15 a.m., and practice will start at 10:30 a.m. No bowler who has won a PBA National championship in the past five years will be allowed to enter.
After a five-game qualifying round, the top six players will advance to match play — a five-game round-robin in which each finalist will roll one game against each of the other five. Qualifying scores and match-play scores (including 30 “bonus pins” for each match-play win) will determine the final order of finish.
The 37-foot Viper lane-conditioning pattern will be utilized, and for additional Prove It Challenge information, you may visit the tournament Web site by clicking here.
