Even though it has taken a while for some people to come around on the performance of Microsoft over the past few years, they have certainly made a magnificent turn around ever since their PR stumble with the Xbox One’s initial reveal. In fact, the Xbox One has arguably received the best game content when compared with the PS4’s.
For Microsoft, they’ve been focused on bringing quality content to Xbox One gamers and it has really begun to show in their releases last year, this year and as we look at 2016’s new games. The major upcoming exclusives coming to the Xbox One this year are titles like Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Microsoft had a lot of announcements to make between E3 2015 and Gamescom and it couldn’t all be crammed into one presentation, nor should it have been. Xbox One boss Phil Spencer talked about how they planned out their Xbox One game announcements between both E3 and Gamescom, in addition to his thoughts on the third party games that were shown off.
“We actually planned E3 and Gamescom at the same time this year. We had enough content, I think, to show at two big shows. I kind of felt that way yesterday, I looked at the Quantum Break demo, which I thought was fantastic, and that could easily have been in our E3 show and vice versa. We treated Gamescom as a top-tier show and we had 90 minutes of content I was really proud of.
It was nice to have the third party support. Just Cause looked really good, having Dark Souls in the show was great. All the teams spend so much time preparing for these shows, and many of them have games to ship this fall. The ability to juggle those things – I felt good about the show,” Spencer told Eurogamer.
Microsoft certainly had plenty to talk about between the aforementioned 2015 Xbox One exclusives, and the games that are coming to the system next year. Titles like Scalebound, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3 and Halo Wars 2 all coming to the Xbox One in 2016 really makes Microsoft’s upcoming lineup tough to beat.
It’ll be interesting to see how the tides turn as a result of the outstanding upcoming content currently slated for the Xbox One. Microsoft had worked hard to earn the trust of gamers and they have done that through high-quality, consistent Xbox One exclusives. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is the next Xbox One exclusive to launch and it’ll be out on Aug. 25.
