One thing about the Fathers of the world: we are tired! If it ain’t the job constantly interrupting our down time driving in the wholly hell commute, it is the wife wanting the bacon she neglected to bring home or the children bringing the homework that begs diligence, prodding and ultimate completion. We are TIRED! So the last thing we want on Father’s Day, June 25th, is to be dragged to the mall to buy a polo shirt in neon colors and have brunch at a chain restaurant, only for the waitress to spill syrup in our lap! Give us some space and give us some good South Florida options:
Nikki Beach ~ One Ocean Drive Miami Beach 33139
Of course they have a brunch in place but we choose to lay down on the day bed, get some sun if we choose, and look at all the beautiful people extolling their virtues around. This favorite opened it’s doors in 1998 and Father Time has never caught up to them! They know when to celebrate and when to dial it down, all while the quality of food and drink never waivers.
Biltmore Hotel ~ 1200 Anastasia Avenue Coral Gables 33134
If a day bed or hammock is not the theme and swinging clubs is, the Biltmore remains a great option. With the newly restored 18 hole Donald Ross course, more challenge is presented while the picturesque, George Merrick realized, scenery remains intact. The family can negotiate between an amazing pool scene and health spa to spend time while they know Dad is hurling his club……enjoying the manicured greens.
Cigar Shopping (various)
We defer to the experts of this type of burn however, as mentioned here, it never hurts to venture toward Calle Ocho for not only the quality of the leaf but also a stop off at Versailles for good Cuban food and espresso. Just make sure you maintain your stance (or act) like a Republican.
Fight Club ~ 120 NE 20th Street 33137
Pick up a free guest pass and get sweating. Besides being popular for multiple exercise disciplines and getting results for their new clients, they may help instill a fresh healthy outlook. And you might find an ex-NFL player to talk shop with.
The Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa ~ 601 Front Street Key West 33040
Go as far South as your U.S. behind can take you and find a landing spot at the Hyatt. At the available price listed, there will be extra cash to spend on a hummingbird trinket, a drink at Margaritaville, or a captain to charter a fishing trip. Or you can just lay prone on the hammock, breath in the salt air, and curse the workplace for the weekend with no concern of repercussions.
