There were fashion hits and misses on the red carpet. We noticed a few trends during the evening, Red and gold were popular colors for many of the celebrity evening gowns. The stars loved crimson and shimmering frocks. Sheer was also a big trend of the night. Rihanna was one of our favorite looks of the evening because she took risks with her outfit. The singer wore a yellow cape which was made by Chinese designer Guo Pei. The hand embroidered cape took two years to make and had to be handled by several men to help Riri navigate the steep staircase. We love that she accessorized with Christian Louboutin heels and Cartier jewels.
Beyonce was the last to arrive on the red carpet. Queen Bey wore one of our favorite “sheer moments” of the night. The Bootylicious singer flaunted her assets in a Givenchy gown designed by Riccardo Tisci. We thought the singer was “flawless” in her crystal gown with a perfect high ponytail. Jennifer Lopez showcased her curves in an Atelier Versace gown. We loved the red dragon design and matching Swarovski crystal clutch. Kim Kardashian donned a sheer white Roberto Cavalli dress that was designed by Peter Dundas. The reality star accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Sarah Jessica Parker decided to wear a literal interpretation of the theme.
The actress worked with Philip Treacy on her elaborate headpiece. She also helped design her affordable dress from the H&M Conscious collection. Kendall Jenner returned to the Met Gala in a green Calvin Klein gown which she paired with Chopard jewels. Keri Russell was stunning in a custom Altuzarra gown with a feather bodice. Kerry Washington wore a fashion miss on the carpet. We usually love the Scandal star’s fashion but were didn’t like her pink Prada gown. Zendaya wore a custom made experimental look from Fausto Puglisi with a hi-low hemline. We thought it was a fresh interpretation of the Asian theme. Amal Clooney stood out in a red Maison Margiela gown. Reese Witherspoon wore a red Jason Wu gown with Tiffany jewels. Lady Gaga donned a Balenciaga gown. Solange was a fashion miss in her weird looking fan dress designed by Giles Deacon. Miley Cyrus wore an unflattering studded Alexander Wang dress. We did like the metallic sheer Alexander Wang dress worn by Zoe Kravitz. Kate Hudson shimmered in a gold Michael Kors gown with Charlotte Olympia platform pumps and a Lorraine Schwartz headpiece.
Robert Pattinson’s fiance FKA Twigs wore an oddly designed gown featuring bare body parts which was unflattering. We like that Taraji P. Henson wore a simple strapless Balenciaga gown with Fred Leighton jewels. Expectant mom Jamie King accessorized her orange column gown with Forevermark jewels. Chrissy Teigen livened up her black ensemble from St. Johns with a flower in her hair. Newcomer Gigi Hadid made her debut at the fashion event in a DVF gown. Selena Gomez was a vision in a white Vera Wang with a crown of flowers. Her ex-Justin Bieber wore an embroidered Balmain jacket with a fiery dragon theme.
Rihanna was the big entertainer of the evening. The singer ditched her yellow cape inside the venue to reveal a red outfit. Riri made another costume change when she attended the afterparty she hosted at Up & Down. Miley Cyrus and Zoe Kravitz were among the guests who were spotted entering the venue. Michael Kors hosted his own bash with Kate Hudson, Katie Holmes, Robert Pattinson stopping by the party. The evening also included a live performance from Miguel. Joe Zee was one of the host’s of the official MET Gala party at the Boom Boom room. Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna, Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara and Sean “Diddy” Combs were some of the celebs spotted in the crowded hotspot. The other big bash of the night was held by Lady Gaga and Alexander Wang at the Diamond Horseshoe. Jennifer Lawrence, Taraji P. Henson, Miley Cyrus and Ansel Elgort were seen at the venue.
