The two-hour finale of “Married at First Sight” on A&E and FYI aired on Tuesday night, according to International Business Times. During the final show for Season 2, the couples revealed whether they wanted to stay married or if they wanted to divorce. They met at the altar six weeks ago and said, “I do.” They went on a romantic honeymoon, shared holidays together, and lived together to see if the marriage was a match made in heaven.
During the entire six weeks, four experts for the show were available to help the couples through many of their struggles. The show’s experts included psychologist Dr. Joseph Cilona, sexuality and relationship expert Dr. Logan Levkoff, sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and spiritual advisor Greg Epstein.
It was no surprise that one couple decided to divorce. They just could get it together during their six weeks together. Davina Kullar, 34, and her husband Sean Varricchio, 35, were the first couple to meet with Dr.Cilona and Dr. Levkoff to give their decision.
“Both Davina and Sean said they wanted to divorce.”
Davina indicated that she wanted a strong man to be there for her, and she felt that she was in the marriage alone because Sean didn’t support her. They seemed very happy and romantic when they met and got married at the altar, but the marriage was never consummated because Davina said she wanted to be in love when that happened. Even though she and Sean agreed to divorce, they both said their lives were transformed by the experiment.
Dr. Epstein and Dr. Schwartz met with Jessica Castro, 30, and Ryan DeNiro, 29. Ryan said he wanted to stay married, but Jessica hesitated before saying she wanted to stay married. She said she wasn’t sure at first because they had only two pleasant weeks. They argued during the first four weeks of their marriage. Dr. Schwartz said she was glad they stayed together, but she admitted they have a long way to go to make the marriage work.
Dr. Cilona and Dr. Levkoff met with Jaclyn Methuen, 30, and Ryan Ranellone, 29. Ryan was asked first if he wanted to stay married, and there was no hesitation at all. Jaclyn gave a long speech before she answered the question. In fact, she had to be asked twice. She finally said she wanted to stay married to Ryan.
It is interesting that one couple decided to divorce in Season 1 and in Season 2. The experts still feel good that two of the three couples stayed married. Dr. Levkoff concluded that the experts matched them, but it is up to the couples to make the marriage work.
The New York Post reported that there will be a reunion airing on June 16 and June 23 to check in on the couples to see how they have been doing for the last six months since they made their decision. Even though Davina and Sean chose to divorce, they will return to bring closure to the experiment.
