Flagstone Property Group has appointed Marieke van Peer as marina manager for Island Gardens Deep Harbour in Miami, North America’s only marina exclusively designed for superyachts, which is opening this December.
“Marieke is a powerhouse marina manager having overseen some of the most prestigious marinas in the country,” said Mehmet Bayraktar, chairman and chief executive officer of Flagstone Property Group. “Her expertise in the mega-yacht category, coupled with a dynamic international background, make her the perfect fit for catering to the demands of the global elite Deep Harbour will serve.”
Van Peer joins Island Gardens Deep Harbour after a four-year tenure serving as marina manager at Miami Beach Marina, overseeing over 400 slips and 300 annual tenants. Van Peer’s experience in establishing efficient and profitable operations and customer service policies have consistently resulted in measurable growth of transient and contract dockage, as well as ensuring that seasonal tenants return annually. She was awarded the Marina Manager Certification by the Marine Industries Association in October 2014.
“Deep Harbour will surely solidify Miami as the world’s newest superyachting capital, making this project the most exciting of my career,” said van Peer. “I look forward to developing the highest levels of customer service suited for the luxurious superyachts that we will host.”
Deep Harbour will have an average of 50 slips accommodating yachts up to 550 feet with drafts of 18 feet (inside piers) and 21 feet (outside piers), and offer amenities including in-slip fueling. For those traveling from international destinations, Island Gardens Deep Harbour will provide immigration on site upon arrival of vessel for customs clearance. The new marina will also serve as the future home of Superyacht Miami, a new boutique show by Show Management taking place in February 2016 designed exclusively to cater to superyachts.
Upon Island Gardens’ completion season 2017/2018, the marina will be complemented by two luxury hotels with hotel-serviced and branded living, a selection of curated, world-class retail and waterfront dining as well as a water taxi transportation system servicing Miami and the beaches. Island Gardens will also feature impeccably landscaped gardens, a cultured environment alive with public art installations and civic art, as well as a beautiful public promenade overlooking the superyacht marina and the Miami skyline.
