Mariah Carey, Trey Songz, Daughtry, Prince Royce, and Jordin Sparks will be among the stars entertaining at the 89th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26, 2015 in New York City. The list of performers also includes Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson, Cirque du Soleil, Andra Day, Andy Grammer, Sandra Lee, Shawn Mendes, MercyMe, Mipso, Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell, Jennifer Nettles, Jake
Owen, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, Rachel Platten, and Questlove of The Roots with the Muppets of Sesame Street. The casts of Broadway shows School of Rock, Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland, The King & I, On Your Feet!, and Something Rotten! will also be featured. NBC promote its upcoming The Wiz Live! with a special sneak preview. The full production will air December 3, 2015 starring Queen Latifah, Common, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, David Alan Grier, and from the original 1975 musical, Stephanie Mills.
“The 89th edition of Macy’s famed holiday procession promises to deliver an unrivaled
spectacle of magic for millions of spectators lining the streets of New York City and millions
more watching it unfold in homes across the nation,” says executive producer Amy Kule. “From our signature giant character balloons to our floats of wonder, not to mention the nation’s best marching bands, whimsical clowns, celebrities and the big man himself – Santa Claus; the 89th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will continue to delight audiences of all ages, as together we celebrate the start of the holiday season.”
An estimated 3.5 million people will line the streets of midtown Manhattan to watch over 8,000 participants. The parade will feature 17 giant character balloons; 24 novelty balloonicles, balloonheads, and trycaloons; 27 floats; 12 marching bands, 1,100 cheerleaders/dancers; and over 1,000 clowns. Four new giant balloons will debut: Angry Birds’ Red, DINO by Sinclair Oil, Ice Age’s Scrat and his Acorn, and an updated Ronald McDonald. There will also be six new floats: Big City Cheer! by Spirit of America Productions, The Colonel’s Road Trip to NYC by Kentucky Fried Chicken, The Cranberry Cooperative by Ocean Spray, Discover Adventure! by Build-A-Bear, Heartwarming Holiday Countdown by Hallmark Channel, and for the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas, Snoopy’s Doghouse by Peanuts Worldwide.
50 million people are expected to watch the broadcast on NBC from 9 a.m. to noon in all time zones.
