Louisville area manufacturing companies are recruiting qualified job seekers for manufacturing jobs that range in pay from $12 – $20 an hour. Manufacturing company recruiters are selecting individuals that have completed a free manufacturing training course offered by the state.
The next free manufacturing training course that is being offered by the state starts Aug. 31 and ends Sept. 25. In order to qualify to enrolling in the manufacturing training course, interested candidates should attend 1 of 2 orientation sessions that will help the candidate chart a manufacturing career path. The first orientation session will be held on Aug. 18 and the second orientation session will be held on Aug. 25. The orientation session will be held at the Kentucky Manufacturing Career Center, located at 160 Rochester Dr. in south Louisville.
The training course is a one month long course and offers a “Certified Production Technician” credential to job candidates that complete the course. The “Certified Production Technician” credential is a recognized by Louisville leading area manufacturing companies. Manufacturing companies recruit for candidates in the manufacturing training course that have achieved the “Certified Production Technician” credential monthly during monthly career center recruiting events.
Registering to attend the orientation requires contacting (502) 276-9711. Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Both orientation sessions on Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 start at 2:00 pm.

The Kentucky Career Center KCCGO program is an action oriented program that prepares individuals to “take charge of your future, by attending a three week workshop that offers in-depth career coaching to build confidence, networking opportunities, resume development and mock interview training, other short term training to build on job skills, connections to employers of growing employment sectors, information , up to date labor market information that identifies current in-demand regional jobs, and access to national career readiness certification testing. KCCGO sessions are ongoing and free if you qualify. The sessions are held at the Kentucky Career Center located at 600 W. Cedar St. in Louisville, Ky. The Kentucky Career Center offers assistance to laid off workers by offering online and in person services. The Kentucky Career Center website offers listing on current job opening and direct application links to hiring employers. In house assistance for job seekers includes:

• Use of computers for creating resumes and conducting an online job search
• Use of tutorials in typing and Microsoft Office computer programs
• Assistance with applying for jobs
• Referral to partnering agencies based on individual needs
• Access to job search tips and website listings
If self-service options do not result in the candidate being hired for a job, more intensive job help services are available and includes:

• Employment and career counseling
• One-on-one resume writing and interviewing assistance
