Thanks to James Wright Chanel, Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies are hard to find. That’s because James reviewed Patti’s pies online, and his video went viral. A lot of people found out about the pies from the video. The singer called James and thanked him for the voluntary review. With Thanksgiving so close to the pie frenzy, Patti went one step further and invited James to her house for Thanksgiving dinner so he could get a taste of some of her other foods. This was extra special for James because it was also his birthday, according to Fox News on Friday.
USA Today reported that in honor of the holiday and James’ birthday, the “On My Own” singer had a birthday cake for him and sang “Happy Birthday” and called him one of her God-given angels. Her son also gifted him with a Louis Vuitton duffel bag because they think James is going to be a world traveler. The 71-year-old said about four years ago during her performance of “Lady Marmalade,” James tried about three times to get up on stage to sing with her. She said had they met then, the pie video would probably never have happened. She concluded that she is glad it didn’t happen then because now is the time for them to meet.
The dinner menu included fried turkey, barbeque ribs, and leg of lamb. Sides consisted of lobster and shrimp mac and cheese, regular mac and cheese, potato salad, kale and yams. Even though it is impossible to find Patti’s pies in Walmart, there were plenty available at Patti’s Thanksgiving dinner.
Needless to say, James thoroughly enjoyed himself at Patti LaBelle’s house. He said, “I feel like I’m somewhere over the rainbow, chile.” He and Patti sang duets together and danced to Patti’s 1978 ballad, “You Are My Friend.”
