Did you know that the first copies of the classic vampire novel Dracula, written by the famed Bram Stoker, appeared on the shelves of London bookshops this very week 118 years ago? Stoker would go on to publish a total of 17 novels, but it was his 1897 novel Dracula that eventually earned him literary fame and became known as a masterpiece of Victorian-era Gothic literature. The novel was written in the form of diaries and journals of its main characters. Dracula is the tale of a vampire who makes his way from Transylvania to England, and preys on innocents there to acquire get the blood he needs to live.
To celebrate the release of the original Dracula book released 118 years ago, for one week only Tours of Terror is offering $118 off the ultimate spooktacular, unforgettable and week-long adventure to Transylvania over Halloween, October 27-November 3, 2015 or the breath-taking Summer version of our Dracula Tour, July 13-20, 2015. (Please note! This is a last call for the Summer DraculaTour coming up this JULY 2015!)
They say “The acclaimed Dracula Tour is the travel adventure which takes you to Eastern Europe’s most infamous land of the unholy, Transylvania (in Romania). For one full week, experience the definitive haunted holiday with fellow fans, friends and fiends of the macabre on a vacation that is scary, spooky, gothic, campy – but most of all – fun for couples, families and definitely solo travelers.”
Just what does this tour entail?
Dracula Tour follows Jonathan Harker’s trail from the novel Dracula, while throwing in all sorts of spooky surprises along the way. There is a mock witch trial, visits to haunted graveyards and time spent in the world’s oldest torture museum. There is both educational and entertainment value as the tour includes historical Bran Castle, Clock Tower, the Black Church, Vlad’s birthplace, Vlad’s castle (also known as Dracula’s fortress) and also the monastery containing Vlad’s Tomb. It’s the perfect combination of fun and fear, for anyone looking for an unusual week-long ghoulish getaway. Vampires, vampire fans and even vampire slayers are welcome, and all get along harmoniously on this travel adventure.
Past tour groups state that the highlight of the Dracula Tour is undoubtedly spending the night at Dracula’s Castle. All of the travelers dress in their best costumes, eat a lavish multi-course meal, experience a surprise “vampire” encounter, descend to the dungeon of the castle where “the coffin” lies waiting, dance to appropriate macabre music (everything from “The Monster Mash” to music from “Rocky Horror” and beyond), partake of a moonlit bonfire and simply have the times of their lives …even if they’re part of the undead.

The summer version of the Vampire Vacation is ideal for teachers and students who can’t go in the fall months, for those who simply don’t want to wait to go on such a great vacation, but also for people in the haunt and related businesses who can never go during the Halloween season.
