In Jack Dishel’s new comedy series :DRYVRS actor Macaulay Culkin portraying Home Alone’s Kevin Mccallister has picked up exactly where you thought he wouldn’t. It’s been a few years and Kevin looks a bit different, not quite the cute little kid that once stole the world’s heart. Kevin is out on a pick up for his wife Anna an on-demand driver who “has done too much blow last night” to work, forcing Kevin to cover her fares. He confesses to his customer that he really can’t drive. In an attempt to save his life the fare quickly offers to drive putting Kevin in the back of the car. In the back seat Kevin gets a call from his mom which he immediately forwards. The fare lets him know, “that’s ice cold treating your mom like that”. This launches the adult Kevin into a tirade about how his whole family went on vacation and left him home to defend himself and the house for a whole week. He details how the event and how being Home Alone had actually severely traumatized him. Can you imagine?
As the episode continues our crew runs into some trouble and of course Kevin is quick to put his Home Alone skills to use. He makes light work of a would be carjacker with a clothes hanger, some rope and his Mccallister ingenuity. The episode ends on a dark note but it’s definitely worth the watch. To see Kevin as a traumatized adult rather than the millionaire investment banker that I had imagined was a surprise. But what did I expect he was left Home Alone by his entire family, twice. That could do some damage.
“I don’t Internets, but if I did I would strongly consider watching :DRYVRS.”
