Low pressure that brought unsettled weather to the region yesterday will move off the New England coast, and away from the region, today. High pressure will be allowed to build into the area through the day providing for a decrease in cloud cover as we head into the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will also rebound nicely and be near to slightly above normal today.
A brief break from the unsettled conditions is forecast tonight through most of Saturday. However, a developing storm system over the central Plains will advance toward the Ohio Valley by Saturday morning, and toward the New York southern tier by Saturday evening. There are indications that a secondary low pressure system may form in the vicinity of the Delmarva Peninsula Saturday night, with both systems lifting north of the region by Sunday afternoon.
Showers will increase in coverage during the overnight hours Saturday, and Sunday looks to be quite unsettled, with periods of rain and showers. A few thunderstorms may also form. Despite the fact that the precipitation looks to choose a weekend to visit the region, the rainfall is desperately needed, and will act to reduce the precipitation deficits over the region.
High pressure builds into the region on Monday, and looks to last through the bulk of the coming work week. Temperatures will be slightly above normal, with another period of fair and dry weather prevailing.
