Greetings Health Conscious People!
Today is November 14. We are less than two weeks away from the start of the holiday season with Thanksgiving kicking us off. Now, I don’t know about you, but I love the holiday season. The brightly colored lights twinkling, flashing, Nativity scenes, cool weather, fallen leaves, the smell of the leaves on the ground, snow soon to come, gathering with family and friends, the smiles and excitement, especially in children and food.
Yes I said food, which, when used improperly, can be the bane of weight loss. But, let’s face it Thanksgiving is about food. Turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, mashed potatoes, fresh baked rolls, candied sweet potatoes, casseroles, stuffing, apple pies, pumpkin pies and all the other goodies that go along with the grandest meal of the American year.
First of all, let me start by saying, enjoy the day. Have the turkey and all the fixens with dessert and some nice wine and slip into a food coma while watching the Eagles destroy the Lions… it’s okay, for just that one day. Then get right back to clean eating. It might set you back a few days or may even help in the long run.
You see, as we eat less and cleaner, our bodies can go into a starvation mode where it holds on to every calorie it takes in making it difficult to lose weight. This is what causes a plateau… the ability of our bodies to adapt. But that is what we have cheat meals for and Thanksgiving is the mother of all cheat meals. The sudden influx of calories will jumpstart your metabolism and help you lose more weight faster. That is the purpose of a cheat meal or cheat day.
Now, chances are you’re going to feel sluggish and bloated right after the meal lasting even up to two weeks. You’re not going to want to start up again but you need to. To help get back into the swing of things I recommend two products which I will post the link to.
The first is 21 Day Fix. It is a program that includes color coded plastic tubs to help with portion control and meal planning, a series of workouts lasting around a half hour each and Shakeology, the best meal replacement shake on the market. Packed full of vitamins, minerals and more phytonutrients than you can shake a stick at, it comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, greenberry and vegan chocolate and vegan tropical strawberry. If you buy the challenge pack, you’ll save over $80 compared to buying everything separately, plus it is on sale until November 30.
The other is the 3-Day Refresh. It is a 3 day cleanse that also restores your body to its natural, slightly alkaline state. It will help with any bloating and general feelings of blahness you experience after eating the most glorious of all meals of the year.
You can find both by going to my website www.beachbodycoach.com/jfeist2008 and click on shop. Use the site map on the top left to find both items.
Having said all of this, I leave you to the holidays. Next week I will share some of my favorite healthy recipes for Thanksgiving. Until then, remember to Stand and Roar!
