Lone Star Championship Wrestling returns to the Cypress VFW tomorrow night for a night of live pro wrestling action. Coming off the heels of a wild card in March, things are bound to be electric on Saturday night at this show that is sponsored by Clutch City Productions. Here’s a look at what is scheduled to take place.
Headlining the card tomorrow night will be former Lone Star Heavyweight Champion “Big Daddy Yum Yum” Byron Wilcott squaring of against the debuting “The Majarajah” Raj Singh. WWE fans will recognize Singh as he was formerly known as Jinder Mahal. He made his official first appearance last month, attacking Colt Cabana after his win over The Empire’s Matt Riviera. Wilcott came to ring and made the save, and challenged him for a May 30 encounter. Singh will get to pick on someone his own size tomorrow night, but you can bet Wilcott be more than ready for the challenge.
Speaking of The Empire, Riviera will be in tag team action. He and partner “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony will face off against longtime rivals Rudy Russo and Cherry Ramons. This has been a very heated rivalry over the last year, mostly between Riviera and Russo. Over the last year, Russo has been the target of several misguided allegations at the hands of Riviera. His heritage, background, and even name have been challenged by The Empire. Russo and Ramons, two former rivals-turned-allies, have joined forces to wage war against The Empire, and will continue their feud tomorrow night.
The Lone Star Heavyweight Championship will be on the line Saturday night as “The Texas Lion” Houston Carson defends the gold against newcomer John Saxon. While Cypress fans will be getting their first look at Saxon, he is by far not a rookie. Both men are very accomplished in the state of Texas, and know they will both need to be on their game in order pick up the victory.
A night of debuts is becoming the theme for tomorrow night, as Angelus Layne makes her debut at the Cypress VFW. She has a golden opportunity in front of her, as she will challenge Barbi Hayden for the Lone Star Women’s Championship. Layne is one of the more premier female wrestlers in the country, meaning a match between her and a former WORLD Women’s Champion should be entertaining to watch. Hayden has said she welcomes all challengers, and looks forward to this match on Saturday. She is more than halfway through an unprecedented third year as Lone Star Women’s Champion, and has no intent of slowing down. But a challenge is still a challenge and she will need to be focused for this new opponent.
Finally, the Lone Star Tag Team Titles will be up for grabs, as the Sons of Texas (Killer McKenzie and Moonshine Mantell) defend their titles against the most well-known and controversial tag team the Lone Star faithful has seen in some time. Real Nigeria, comprised of Hambone and Chaz Taylor, look to make good on the first shot at the titles they’ve collectively seen in a long time. Hambone, having been under the leadership of Prince Kanu since late 2014, now has his old friend and parter in the fold. Taylor though, is very reluctant to have anything to do with the association. Once the most popular tag team in the company is now in a different and darker light, with Hambone giving his entire allegiance to Kanu. On the other side, the champions have racked up victory after victory and look to keep that streak alive tomorrow night. Can they successfully escape with the titles, or will Prince Kanu lead his disciples to a reign of terror?
All of this goes down tomorrow night at the Cypress VFW, located at 21902 Highway 290 (Northwest Freeway) in Cypress. Tickets will be available at the door for the following prices: $15 for reserved front row, and general admission tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Belltime is set for 7:30 P.M., so make sure to get their early to catch all the action of Lone Star Championship Wrestling.
