Lollapalooza offers livestreams this weekend, expands internationally

by atom bash

Now that Lollapalooza is moving into its second decade in Chicago’s Grant Park, the festival is continuing to expand its brand while creating the type of diverse lineup that introduces old acts to new fans and new acts to alt rockers who still remember when Lolla brainchild Perry Farrell’s band, Jane’s Addiction, headlined the event.

The 2015 edition, which takes place July 31-Aug. 2 on eight stages, is headlined by Paul McCartney, Metallica and Florence + the Machine.

The good news for those who can’t make it to the Windy City this weekend, many of the festivals 140-plus acts, including the headliners, will be livestreamed by Red Bull TV, http://lollapalooza.redbull.tv/.

The list, which is subject to change, includes Alabama Shakes, alt-J, Of Monsters And Men, Kaskade, TV on the Radio, Nero, Dillon Francis, Gary Clark Jr., The War On Drugs, Father John Misty, Walk the Moon, Cold War Kids, Lord Huron, Hot Chip, Marina and the Diamonds, MSMR, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Delta Spirit, Death From Above 1979, James Bay, Moon Taxi, Django Django, Glass Animals, DMA’s, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, Carnage, G-Eazy, DJ Snake, Chet Faker, The Chainsmokers, Logic, Boys Noize, RL Grime, DJ Mustard, Twin Peaks, Cked Up, What So Not, Galantis, Wet, Holychild, Destructo, Zella Day, Mako, BØRNS, Mick Jenkins and In The Whale.

The Red Bull webcast will include behind-the-scenes footage from the festival grounds plus interviews with performers. It will be hosted by Sal Masekela, Ted Stryker and Julie Garcia.

You can also watch livestreams via the Red Bull TV app on Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices, Apple TV, Samsung TV’s Red Bull channels and on Amazon Fire TV, Kindle Fire, Nexus Player, Roku Players, Roku TV models, and Xbox 360 via a free app.

In other Lollapalooza news, the festival’s organizers announced that it will come to Parque Simón Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia in October of 2016.

The Central American country joins other international stops for the festival — Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Berlin.

We have had the ambition to bring Lollapalooza to Colombia for some time now, and have found partners who are true professionals and share our passion for the music,” said Lollapalooza founder Farrell in a press statement. “Fans in Colombia have a true love of alternative music and we are excited for the rest of the world to find out what we already know about this wonderful country.

There are still VIP and Platinum Passes available for this year’s Chicago event.
