People living with Type 2 diabetes should: check and monitor glucose levels daily, consume low calorie foods, limit the number of carbohydrates consumed, keep track of daily caloric intake, take medication and/or insulin as prescribed, exercise, stop smoking, avoid drinking alcohol, maintain A1C goal and follow-up with their doctor regularly.
If you are living with Type 2 diabetes, eat low calorie foods. Most low calorie diets contain 1200, 1500 or 1800 calories per day. If you need assistance with meal planning, contact a dietitian or weight loss clinic in your area.
