It was a muddy, humid kickoff for the 2015 edition of Austin Psych Fest (now Levitation) yesterday at Carson Creek Ranch in Austin, Texas. Poor weather conditions did nothing to deter an estimated 10,000 fans from heading to the festival to catch headliners, Tame Impala and Spiritualized. Festival organizers, Transmission Events had to contend with record rains in the two days prior to the event. The resulting damage to the grounds forced Transmission to reconfigure the site amid safety concerns. Despite the logistical challenges, the show schedule ran close to on time for most of the day culminating in a scintillating performance by Australia’s Tame Impala.
Parking was also an issue with long delays both in and out of the festival grounds Friday. In an effort to address those issues and others that cropped up yesterday, Austin Psych Fest published this recap and explanation of what occurred and what organizers are doing to improve the experience for concertgoers. Kudos to the festival for taking a proactive and transparent approach to concerns.
