Fans of Silver Oak winery’s exceptional Cabernet Sauvignons will have a special opportunity on August 6th to experience the award-winning winery’s yet-to-be-released 2011 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Partnering with Silver Oak, San Francisco’s Big 4 Restaurant at the Scarlet Huntington on Nob Hill will host the exceptional evening of fine food and fine wine.
Big 4’s Executive Chef Kevin Scott has created a five-course menu, perfectly paired with a variety of complimentary wines; the main course – Wyoming buffalo with Romano beans and marrow sauce – will showcase Silver Oak’s newest release. This full-bodied, classic expression of Alexander Valley Cabernet has a bright ruby-red color with purple undertones. The nose exudes aromas of black cherry, cedar and black olives. On the palate, its dried herb, cocoa and lavender flavors are framed by dusty tannins and a savory texture.
Silver Oak is single-minded in the pursuit of exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. For 40 years, they have produced delicious and distinctive Cabernets from their Napa Valley and Alexander Valley wineries. Each Cabernet is food-friendly and extensively aged to be drinkable upon release.
Established in October 1976, Big 4 Restaurant was named after the reputed ‘Big Four’ industrialists – Collis P. Huntington, Charles Crocker, Leland Stanford and Mark Hopkins – famed railroad tycoons of the nineteenth century who played a vital role in San Francisco’s history and early development. Big 4 pays tribute to the grandeur of earlier eras, retaining its elegance with an impressive collection of original artifacts, historical photographs and memorabilia from California’s unique history.
