On Tuesday, we reported that a shocking video surfaced showing a Planned Parenthood executive bragging about how her organization harvests and sells body parts from late-term abortions. Nevertheless, the so-called “mainstream media” is doing everything it can to provide cover for the abortion provider, according to numerous reports that have surfaced since the video’s release.
Some outlets dealt with the issue by ignoring it altogether. Newsbusters’ Katie Yoder said Wednesday that ABC and CBS “turned a blind eye” to the story, choosing to cover “Hitch-Hiking Bridesmaids,” Shanghai’s Disneyland and luxury condos in Miami.
According to Yoder, out of the 9 hours and 30 minutes of news shows the networks have aired, the Planned Parenthood story only received 39 seconds. Media Research Center Culture Vice President Dan Gainor slammed the networks for their near-silence on the issue.
“This is a network media cover-up of a grisly practice the Nazis might support, but virtually all Americans consider worse than barbaric,” he said, calling it “pure evil.” He continued: “How is it not news that a senior executive at Planned Parenthood, an organization that receives millions of taxpayer dollars each year, seems to be violating the law and selling aborted babies’ body parts apparently obtained through illegal partial-birth abortions? This practice is as ghoulish as anything Josef Mengele ever did. And this isn’t news?” Gainor, however, wasn’t finished.
“ABC and CBS are so outlandishly pro-abortion they passed on the news that a taxpayer-funded entity appears to have been breaking the law and trafficking human body parts,” he added. “As with the Gosnell nightmare, journalists have refused to cover this story because it upsets the narrative they actively push which is that Planned Parenthood cares about women’s health.”
He went on to call ABC and CBS “accomplices to one of the most gruesome practices the abortion industry has perpetrated to date” if they continue to remain silent on the story. “Shame on them.”
Other outlets chose to minimize the story to soften the shocking impact of the revealing video. An Associated Press story written by someone identified by Twitchy as an ally of Planned Parenthood, simply referred to the selling of fetal body parts as “disposition.”
“Anti-abortion group release video showing Planned Parenthood official discussing disposition of fetal remains,” an AP tweet said. “The video itself details selling specific body parts and @AP translates it to ‘disposition of fetal remains,'” one online critic said.
Other media outlets also claim Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood, didn’t say what she is heard saying. An article at the Daily Beast, for example, says that despite the video, Planned Parenthood is not selling the organs. Other outlets have also made the claim. But, Life News said, Nucatola is heard telling the “buyers” that “specimens” would range in cost from $30 to $100.
Apparently, viewers of the video, which can be seen here, aren’t supposed to believe their own lying eyes and ears. Despite the media’s efforts, two states — Texas and Louisiana — have said they will investigate the claims made in the video. Congressional Republicans have also called for an investigation.
“When an organization monetizes an unborn child — and with the cavalier attitude portrayed in this horrific video — we must all act,” said House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. “As a start, I have asked our relevant committees to look into this matter. I am also calling on President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell to denounce, and stop, these gruesome practices.”
