Being the No. 1 selling Lexus line in America, the 2016 Lexus RX SUVs are now available at dealerships and potential customers, Lexus enthusiasts and the press are raving about these high end vehicles. Sure there in a lot of room, they handle perfectly and vehicle owners can’t beat that Lexus reliability, but in an age of gadgets and technology, Lexus is delivering in a big way with tech features inside the spacious and comfortable vehicle and outside, as well.
With RX global sales of more than 2.1 million unit, the RX represents three out of ten vehicles ever sold by Lexus, so for customers to keep coming back to the RX line, Lexus has to be doing something right and it all revolves around technology, and in 2106 that means something new with the Lexus Safety System+.
“With the new Lexus Safety System+, we offer drivers an added level of occupant safety in a conveniently bundled package that leverages some of the latest accident prevention technology. We certainly expect the proliferation of these features to continue throughout the luxury vehicle market and our Lexus lineup as the industry remains steadfast in the pursuit of enhanced vehicle safety,” explains Jeff Bracken, Group Vice President and General Manager Lexus Division.
On the outside, customers will notice a new spindle grille and LED headlamps. The fenders being flared give a sporty look, but when combined the flowing roofline, the entire RX is more wind dynamic and those inside will hear less wind noise. The enhanced powertrain puts out 300hp and it gives high fuel economy ratings and offers low carbon emissions. The entire RX body structure has been strengthened, more stiffness has been added which helps in handling, responsiveness and that reduces engine and road noise. MacPherson struts produce excellent handling and a smooth ride. Even rides over long bridges which give that droll bridge crossing sound were quiet and smooth with this new technology.
The Lexus Safety System+ shows Lexus’ commitment to safety and security can help avoid or mitigate collisions during certain times and conditions. There are also sensors that are designed to detect sudden stops or engage in automatic braking in extreme circumstances. Automatic High Beam lights help for night driving and a radar/camera device is always working to make sure you stay in your lane.
Inside an RX is the perfect combination of luxury and convenience. Heated outboard rear seats and a 60/40 power folding second row come in handy. A panorama moon roof sets the mood for a spring or summer night and what more can one say about the multi-screen rear entertainment system with 11.6″ monitors that give a perfect picture.
Lexus doesn’t neglect the driver and passenger in the front seat as a color heads-up display (HUD) emits vehicle information to the driver’s side windshield and I haven’t even mentioned the available 12.3″ monitor with full-screen map that will above you center stack. It looks impressive and the information it offers can be valuable on a long or short trip. If you think a 12.3″ monitor will get in the way, this one is cut perfectly so it doesn’t impair vision or distract the driver. Little things like the shift lever’s postion away from the dash and instrument panel are nice touches as they give more space up in the front seat.
“Even while ensuring a high level of luxury and space within the cabin, the RX’s silhouette remains sleek and dynamic, while the interior has been designed for easy operation with luxurious execution,” said Gen Ikeda, Lexus RX chief designer.
Give the 2016 Lexus RX line a look. It’s now at dealerships and you will want to take a test drive. Whether it be the size, looks or technology on board this beautiful vehicle, there’s a good chance you will want to take one home.
