People start their days in a variety of ways. Some stretch and moan and groan about having to get up. Others, pop out of bed and immediately head for the gym for a workout. Others just being their daily routine, with no particular emotion about anything. This writing offers a different way to begin the day, that may end up having an effect on the entire day.
Rather than beginning the day with a negative attitude, or immediately jumping into the day’s activities, a nice way to begin the day is by saying a prayer of praise to God. It may contain as much or as little as personal preference desires. It is a also a good time to let God know what the concerns of the day are; whether it be work-related issues, money problems, relationship struggles, or something else. By including these concerns in a prayer, it helps to relieve the burden and worry from one’s shoulders, and allows God the opportunity to pick up on the request and be a part of the outcome. It also allows for the day to begin like a clean slate. The day begins anew and creates a positive mindset. It also becomes easier to share God’s love with others throughout the day.
According to 2 Corinthians 4: 6-13 says, “The God who said, ‘Out of darkness the light shall shine!’ is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God’s glory shining in the face of Christ. Yet we who have this spiritual treasure are like common clay pots, in order to show that the supreme power belongs to God, not to us. We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair; there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed. At all times we carry in our mortal bodies the death of Jesus, so that his life also may be seen in our bodies. Throughout our lives we are always in danger of death for Jesus’ sake, in order that his life may be seen in this mortal body of ours. This means that death is at work in us, but life is at work in you,” (Good News Bible with Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha, 1978, New York, NY: American Bible Society). In this way, God’s light shines through each person who believes.
In living for God, sharing His love and kindness, the day tends to go a little smoother. It may not be perfect, just as the Bible verse states; but, it is harder to be broken by things that might go wrong. God provides the strength to get through the day, and to deal with whatever it brings. It is easier to smile with God’s love filling one’s heart. A joyful person is more approachable. Lines of communication open up when a person has a joyful attitude. Also, a positive outlook is contagious; just as a negative attitude can be. Why not spread a little cheer, joy, and a sincere smile? It is much easier than allowing a frown ruin things throughout the day.
When ending the day, let go of the things that may not have gone quite right. Let God take care of these situations. Express gratitude for whatever went on through the entire day. This frees the mind, relieves worries, lessens anxiety, and allows a better opportunity for a good night’s sleep. If need be, do some tapping, too.
Each day, every day, in whatever you do, let God’s love shine through!
