Earlier this week, 2K Games unveiled the gameplay trailer for their forthcoming video game WWE 2K16, which shows WWE Superstars in action and a glimpse of the Stone Cold Steve Austin 2K Showcase mode. Even former ECW commentator Joey Styles is getting in on the video game action as he announced today on Twitter that he will provide commentary for the Steve Austin/Mikey Whipwreck match in Austin’s 2K Showcase. Today, 2K revealed another trailer that reveals a new revamped version of the MyCareer mode, which was introduced in last year’s next-gen versions of WWE 2K15.
The trailer features details on how gamers will be able to rise to the top to become the cream of the crop in the WWE over the span of 15 years. The ultimate goal: to reach the Hall of Fame. Players will start off as a rookie in NXT as they train in the WWE Performing Center and compete against the best NXT has to offer. From there, you will either choose to become a long-term champion in NXT or get on the main roster to chase after titles like the Intercontinental Championship. Once you get on the main roster, there are many options to play MyCareer mode whether it siding with a variety of allies, instigating rivalries or rebelling against The Authority.
WWE 2K16’s MyCareer mode looks way different this time around then the cookie-cutter version that was offered in WWE 2K15. It is also pretty cool to see familiar WWE personalities such as the head trainer at the WWE Performance Center Matt Bloom (aka Jason Albert) and Renee Young play pivotal roles in MyCareer mode. One of the most interesting aspects to the mode is the many different ways you could enter the WWE Hall of Fame that include main goals and sub goals. Some of the listed main goals include holding every championship title in WWE, holding a title for a year and going on a losing streak for three years, while the sub goals include becoming a three-time Royal Rumble winner and main eventing three WrestleManias. Fans of WWE 2K who were left unsatisfied with last year’s MyCareer mode will definitely enjoy the mode this time around and the myriad of choices they could choose from whether they want to be a babyface or a heel.
WWE 2K16 will be released October 27, 2015 in North America and October 30, 2015 internationally.
