Recently I have been asked by a few different aspiring independent filmmakers where they can find out more information about films that have been made in Las Vegas and view trailers of some of the projects. One place I would recommend checking out is the Las Vegas Films and Trailers Public Group Page on Facebook. At the time this was written there were 430 members including such familiar faces and notables as: Josh Cohen, Kelly & Charisma Schwarze, Chris Battles, Sharry Flaherty, Sean Jackson, Jeremy A. Settles, Jerry Thompson, Alberto Triana, Rob Sholty, Paul Tumpson,
Only Southern Nevada films, trailers and music videos are allowed and there are no commercials, promos, kickstarter campaigns, reels, casting calls, sales pitches or other distracting data. The purpose of this page is to provide a place where its members can go and watch each others work. Postings contain the name of the project, the director and the link.
One exciting post published on September 11th was the final, official version of the trailer for Josh Cohen’s long awaited crime drama RED HERRING, which tells the story of a Las Vegas homicide detective who uncovers a professional assassin while investigating his best friend. Directed by Ousa Khun the film was co-written and executive produced by Cohen and features several recognizable faces from the Southern Nevada area such as Rich Hopkins, Brenda Whitehead, Dean Mauro, Stu Chaiken, Dee Cutrone, Ross Alzina, G. Eric Miles, Rich Hopkins, Tim Tucker and an appearance by co-executive producer Jeremy Settles. The DVD/VOD release date is set for November 10th with an announcement expected shortly about its world premiere and theatrical run.
Van Oneohsix posted a trailer from the feature film HOLLYWOOD, which was shot in late 2013 at the Golden Nugget. Written and directed by Davidson Cole, the drama tells the story of David’s reunion with his estranged father during four crazy days in Las Vegas where he confronts his fear that he is destined to become like the man he has always despised. The film had its international premiere at the Revelation Film Festival in Perth, Australia with a US debut yet to be announced.
The 30 second trailer for the short THE EXCHANGE from Director/Cinematographer Michael Tushaus and starring Danny Latham, Beatrix Wiersma and Victoria Viveiros also looks intriguing as does the riveting teaser from director Brandon Christensen for his web series BLACK ICE. A few other notables include: Sean Jackson’s short THEY LOVE ME starring Kimberly Hill, Adia Bell, , Victoria Viveiros, Anna Lee, Nalya Shakirova and Tatiana Mosley; EMMA, the first part of a horror anthology film TALES OF TORMENT, which was written by Brent Mukai and directed by Alberto Triana; and the colorful and welcoming ONE QUARTER AT A TIME a short documentary from director Lynsey Cook about The Pinball Hall of Fame located in Las Vegas.
If you’re a Southern Nevada filmmaker looking for a place to post a trailer or teaser to help get the word out about your projects or an indie film lover who wants to support local talent it’s worth visiting the Las Vegas Films and Trailers page on Facebook.
