Lady Gaga has been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year. The Grammy Award winner will receive the award during Billboard’s 10th annual Women in Music event on Dec. 11 at Cipriani Midtown in New York, according to USA Today on Tuesday. CNN reported that more honorees for this year’s Women in Music will be announced in the coming weeks. The event will be televised and will be aired on television as Women in Music on Dec. 18. Lifetime is partnering with Billboard to televise the event for the first time in its 10-year history.
Liz Gateley, executive vice president and head of programming at Lifetime, said the network is delighted to partner with Billboard on this special event, bringing it to a mass audience for the first time ever. It wasn’t hard to choose Lady Gaga because it was based on industry leadership, artistry, philanthropy, innovative contribution to music and inspiration to millions. Lady Gaga has all those characteristics. Taylor Swift has been named Billboard Woman of the Year twice. Others include Pink, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé.
