The LA Music Critic Awards were started in 2012 to give recognition to indie artists, in the spirit of other major awards like the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Country Music Awards and the like. The submissions for the first half of 2015 reflect the growing confidence of today’s indie artists, and the easy availability of technology to assist them in getting their music out to current and potential fans. The LA Music Critic Awards strive to recognize that talent and hopefully turn our readers on to some new music and/or artists they are unfamiliar with or unaware of.
Bob Leggett, aka the LA Music Critic has a rich history in the music business. He was a writer for industry leader Music Connection and local Orange County (California) publication Live Magazine before starting with atombash.com and AXS.com. He has published more than 1,000 articles, including more than 150 reviews in Music Connection alone.
He served as the coordinator for the Orange County Music Awards for five years before launching his own awards competition, the SoCal Music Live Awards. He served each of those awards shows for five years before moving to Montana in 2013.
He has kept informed on the local indie scene, both in Los Angeles and Missoula, Montana, as well as nationwide, and has compiled a panel of musical experts The feedback on this year’s nominees has been great, with the Fan Favorite a hard-fought battle between Annette Conlon and Katelyn Marie. Alexis Keegan and Jacque Ryal were also nominated. After the final tally was made, Annette Conlon edged out Katelyn Marie to win the Fan Favorite Award.
We are already receiving submissions for the second half of 2015, and they are amazing. We can hardly wait to share them with our readers.
