Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning Country Music Hall of Fame member and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, Kenny Rogers, brings his “Once Again It’s Christmas” tour of Christmas & Hits, featuring Linda Davis, to Star Plaza Theatre, 8001 Delaware Place, Merrillville, Indiana 46410, on Saturday, November 28th, 2015, at 8:00pm. Rogers will showcase the season’s favorite tunes, as well as his most memorable songs, “She Believes In Me,” “Lady,” “Lucille,” “The Gambler,” “Through the Years,” “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town,” “Coward of the County,” and his more recent “Buy Me A Rose“. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Kenny Rogers is also supporting a newly released Christmas album entitled, “Once Again It’s Christmas“, which features several special guest star appearances. Jennifer Nettles joins Rogers on “Here It Is Christmas/Baby, It’s Cold Outside”; Alison Krauss is featured on “Some Children See Him”; Home Free collaborates with Rogers on “Children, Go Where I Send Thee”; Jim Brickman guests on “That Silent Night”; and Winfield’s Locket sings with Rogers on “There’s A New Kid In Town.” Rogers also co-wrote a powerful song called “The Light” with long-time bandmate Steve Glassmeyer and former bandmate, Warren Hartman.
In 1984, Rogers and Dolly Parton released “Once Upon a Christmas“, making them forever part of our holiday traditions. That album would go five-times platinum in Canada and two-times platinum in the United States.
The past several years have been some of the most active, creative, and rewarding of Rogers’ entire storied career. “Once Again It’s Christmas” is Rogers’ third full studio release of all new recordings since 2011. In 2014, Rogers received his latest GRAMMY Award nomination with Dolly Parton for “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” and in 2014 and 2015, Rogers’ career was showcased in a year-long exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. In 2013, Rogers was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 47th Annual CMA Awards.
Impressively, Rogers has charted a record within each of the last seven decades, beginning with “That Crazy Feeling” (as Kenneth Rogers), in the late 1950s, through “You Can’t Make Old Friends” (2013), which became his 22nd Top 10 Country album. He has scored a hit single in each of the past six decades, including his first No. 1 hit, the GRAMMY Award-winning “Lucille,” in 1977, which launched one of the most successful solo careers in the history of music, and the No. 1 hit “Buy Me A Rose” in 2000, which made him the oldest solo artist in the history of the Country singles chart to reach the top spot (he was 61 at the time).
Rogers has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. He has charted a record within each of the last seven decades. The first country artist to consistently sell out arenas, Rogers quickly became a pop superstar as well — his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10’s rank him fourth-best of all time among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers has recorded 24 No. 1 hits, 11 No. 1 albums, 25 Top 10 country albums and is the RIAA’s eighth best-selling male solo artist of all time. He has received three GRAMMY Awards, 11 People’s Choice Awards, 19 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards and six Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.
“After all these years, I still have something to say.” states Rogers. “I’m still creating what I hope is relevant music and loving every minute of it.” [from Kenny Rogers “Once Again It’s Christmas” Tour 2015 press release]
