When a father disowns his own children, that’s usually cause for heartache and sadness for all involved, but not always. When Kate Hudson found herself being declared “dead to me” by her father, she knew it was par for the course. Bill Hudson, Kate Hudson’s biological father, publicly declared that Kate and her brother Oliver Hudson were no longer his kids and this didn’t surprise or even faze Kate and Oliver a bit, according to Us Magazine on June 29.
Bill Hudson’s sudden declaration came on the wake of Oliver posting “Happy Abandonment Day” to his father on Father’s Day. This prompted Bill Hudson to retaliate announcing he is severing himself from Oliver and when doing so, he also included Kate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Instead of partaking in an online battle, Kate posted a Father’s Day Message for Kurt Russell, who has been a dad to Kate for 30 out of her 36 years of life. She tenderly referred to him as “Pa.” This was the man that put Goldie and her two kids first as his family. Both Kate and Oliver wished Kurt a happy Father’s Day instead of sending that greeting to their biological father.
Kurt never missed a baseball game, a school recital, a birthday party or any other event a parent usually attends. For all intents and purposes, Kurt Russell is Kate and Oliver’s father and they’ve voiced this many times over the years.
Some might say that Bill Hudson’s rant against Oliver and Kate opened a window for folks to see why his two grown kids have nothing to do with him. Kate and Oliver weren’t at all surprised that their biological father tried to clear his name, as an insider said, he’s been doing that kind of stuff for years now.
No matter what happens in life, this is not something you would take to a public venue to do. Ripping into his kids in public backfired and showed a side of Bill Hudson that many wouldn’t blame the brother and sister for wanting to stay away.
Hudson also said that when he and Kate first divorced, he had a good relationship with the kids and Goldie would never say a bad word about him to their kids. Bill believes that when Kurt Russell came into the picture about three years post their divorce, this is when he was suddenly seen as the bad guy.
The main thing is that Kate and Oliver had a great dad while growing up. When all is said in done, Kate and Oliver looked like they were well taken care of with their father-figure Kurt Russell and mom Goldie Hawn, who unlike Bill Hudson, was always there!
