A kangaroo with big pecs is proving Down Under that he is indeed the top animal on campus this Memorial Day weekend. Nicknamed “Big Buck,” the massive kangaroo – clocking in at over six feet, six inches – is said to be strutting his stuff and flexing his muscles throughout a Brisbane neighborhood in Australia. HNGN News reports this Monday, May 25, 2015, that photos of the wild animal have become something of a viral hit online, with its apparently broad chest coming off as both funny as it is impressive.
As many Australian residents can attest, kangaroos may look cute and cuddly, but they are powerful and potentially threatening animals that don’t often back down from a confrontation. One particularly exemplary specimen garnering some serious fanfare this week is a giant kangaroo with an idiosyncratic ear that has helped Brisbane residents identify him. The kangaroo has been seen in a variety of areas throughout the local community, including neighborhood homes and golf courses throughout North Lakes on the east coast.
While most people may want to steer clear of this animal with some mighty pectorals —Big Buck certainly looks capable of showing through his muscles why he’s the top beast Down Under on campus—the kangaroo has become something of a local celebrity. One witness, Linda Hellyer, says she was walking her dogs in a park near her home when she spotted the large animal. His nickname certainly suits him, she added.
“He’s a big boy,” the impressed woman shared in a statement to Seven News. “I didn’t get too close as I know kangaroos can be dangerous. He’s got massive muscles, big pecs and everything and he stood up because he was obviously a bit frightened of the dogs.”
According to the New York Daily News, there have fortunately been no altercations with the animal quite yet. The kangaroo’s big pecs in particular have made Big Buck a favorite online as well, with photos of the animal seemingly flexing his massive muscles making him stand out from the crowd. Who said that humans were the only ones who liked to show off their strength? And at almost seven feet, this is one creature that no one probably wants to start a fight with.
There have been some other surprising animals beside this funny kangaroo proving they are not afraid to stand up to humans this week. A coyote in Irving was said to have been brazen enough to pounce atop a 3-year-old girl with her mother and sister right nearby. Fortunately, she survived the harrowing incident without any major injury. Other locals have also come forward this Memorial Day weekend to acknowledge that coyotes in the area have been similarly bold in nature, and the community has been warned by animal control officials to be on watchful guard.
